Today, on 27.11.2025, the Ministry of Regional Development participated in the roundtable organized by RDA West, with a focus on discussing the process of establishing and operationalizing Regional Development Centers for the West and Southwest regions.
The meeting was opened by Mr. Sokol Luta, Director of RDA West, who presented the purpose of organizing this roundtable, emphasizing the review of concrete institutional and operational steps for the establishment of these centers. These centers will serve as support mechanisms for municipalities in regional development planning, inter-municipal coordination, strengthening professional capacities and increasing the absorption of development funds.
Then, Dr. Refike Sülçevsi, Acting Secretary General of the MRD, emphasized the importance of organizing this roundtable, assessing that this meeting has a special importance for the consolidation of the balanced regional development system in the Republic of Kosovo, and is in full compliance with the institutional obligations arising from Law No. 08/L-190 on Balanced Regional Development, which defines the legal bases for the functioning of regional policies, strengthening inter-municipal cooperation and balanced socio-economic development between the regions of the country.
The meeting continued with keynote speeches by the Mayor of Peja Municipality, Mr. Gazmend Muhaxheri, and the Mayor of Klina Municipality, Mr. Zenun. Elezaj, who expressed support for this process and their willingness to cooperate in the development of regional structures.
In this roundtable, from the Ministry of Regional Development, participated: Mr. Ylber Çitaku, Director of DCRD, Ms. Kreshnike Arifi, Head of the Division for Coordination of Regional Development, as well as other representatives from the municipalities of the West Region.
The Ministry of Regional Development remains committed to advancing regional development policies and strengthening cooperation with regional agencies and municipalities, in order to achieve balanced socio-economic development in all regions of the country.
