Today, on 01.07.2026, the Ministry of Regional Development (MRD) held a coordination meeting regarding the process of establishing and operationalizing the North Regional Development Centre.
The meeting was chaired by the Acting First Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Regional Development, Mr. Ali Dula, who also leads the process of establishing regional development centres. The purpose of the meeting was to coordinate inter-institutional activities to advance the process of establishing and operationalizing the North Regional Development Centre.
The meeting was attended by the Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Local Government Administration, Mr. Arton Konushevci, Mayor of Mitrovica, Mr. Faton Peci, Deputy Mayor of Skenderaj, Mr. Fadil Nura, Director of RDA North, Ms. Rreze Duli, Director of General Services in RDA, Ms. Arta Ahmeti Xhylani, directors of municipal directorates, as well as other institutional representatives.
During the meeting, the Acting Director of DCRD, Ms. Kreshnike Arifi, presented the process of establishing Regional Development Centres, presenting the institutional framework, objectives and their role in promoting balanced regional development. Meanwhile, Ms. Shyhrete Kastrati, Director of DPAR, presented the activities and steps necessary for the implementation of the Guidelines for the Identification of Strategic Investment Areas and the Feasibility Study for Regional Socio-Economic Development, with a focus on identifying development potentials and creating conditions for attracting investments.
The meeting discussed further steps for the functionalization of the North Regional Development Centre, as well as its importance in coordinating development priorities, drafting regional operational plans, developing and implementing joint projects, and mobilizing funds and investments for the region.
At the end of the meeting, the participants expressed their willingness to continue inter-institutional and inter-municipal cooperation in order to establish and operationalize the North Regional Development Centre, evaluating this initiative as an important step towards advancing balanced and sustainable regional development.
