MRD signs contracts with 70 beneficiaries of the Balanced Regional Development Program 2026

Prishtina, 13 August 2026 – The Ministry of Regional Development (MRD) has organized the contract signing ceremony with 70 beneficiaries of the Balanced Regional Development Program (BRDP) for 2026, one of the Ministry’s main programs for supporting economic development and creating new opportunities in all regions of the Republic of Kosovo.

At the ceremony organized on this occasion, the attendees and beneficiaries were greeted by the Acting Minister of Regional Development, Mr. Rasim Demiri, who emphasized the importance of balanced regional development and supporting initiatives that create a concrete impact on local communities.

Minister Demiri emphasized that today’s ceremony marks more than the formal signing of contracts.

“Today we are not just signing contracts. Today we are giving concrete support to 70 ideas, projects and initiatives, which we expect to bring direct impact to the communities where they will be implemented.”

He reiterated that the Balanced Regional Development Program is based on the principle that economic and social development should be inclusive and distributed in a balanced manner across all regions of the country.

“Every region, every municipality and every community has its own economic, human and development potential. Our task as institutions is to identify these potentials, support them and create the necessary space for them to develop”, said Minister Demiri.

Speaking about the project selection process, the acting Minister emphasized that the interest in the BRDP 2026 Program has been great, with 776 applications received from all regions of Kosovo, while the beneficiary projects have been selected after a competitive and evaluation process, in accordance with the established criteria.

He called on the beneficiaries to transform the support received into concrete results and successful projects.

“The success of such a program is not measured only by the number of contracts signed. Success is measured by the businesses that grow, the services that improve, the investments that are generated and, above all, the impact that these projects have on the lives of our citizens”, he emphasized.

In his speech, Minister Demiri thanked the professional staff of the Ministry of Regional Development, the evaluation committees and institutional partners for their contribution to the implementation of this program.

He also expressed special thanks to the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Mr. Albin Kurti, for his support to regional development policies and for his presence at the signing ceremony.

The contracts with the 70 beneficiaries of the Balanced Regional Development Program 2026 were signed by the Deputy Minister of Regional Development, Mr. Bashkim Krasniqi, together with each beneficiary separately.

The ceremony was also attended by the Deputy Minister, Mr. Ali Dula, the Acting Secretary General of the MRD, Mr. Ylber Çitaku, members of the Minister’s Cabinet, leaders and officials of the Ministry of Regional Development, as well as the beneficiaries of the program.

With the support of the 70 beneficiary projects, the MRD aims to contribute to the economic and social development of the regions of Kosovo, by promoting new initiatives, investments, business development and by creating new opportunities for citizens.

The Ministry of Regional Development will continue its commitment to building policies and programs that contribute to a more balanced, more inclusive development and with better prospects for all regions of the Republic of Kosovo.
