RDA West, with the support of the MRD, organized the workshop on “Implementation of the Law on Balanced Regional Development and initiation of the drafting of the Regional Operational Plan”

On October 22, 2025, the Regional Development Agency – West, with the support of the Ministry of Regional Development, organized a workshop in Peja on the "Implementation of the Law on Balanced Regional Development and the initiation of the drafting of the Regional Operational Plan".

The purpose of the workshop was to inform representatives of the municipalities of the Western region about the legal basis and bylaws related to Balanced Regional Development, as well as to emphasize the importance of this legal basis for the creation of an operational plan for each municipality separately, and for the possibilities of cooperation at the regional level in general.

In this workshop, which was led by RDA West structures, participants were also informed about the future organization of RDAs and their functioning.

According to the new organization, seven regions will be created from five existing regions, and they will be called Regional Development Centres (RDC).

During the workshop, the following were also presented:

Development priorities defined in national and regional strategies, in the areas of economic development and sustainable tourism;

Development priorities identified in municipal development plans and local strategies, in the same areas.

Authorized municipal representatives contributed to the identification of development priorities of their municipalities, highlighting areas with potential for joint regional development.

In the monitoring capacity from the Ministry of Regional Development, Mr. Shani Hamitaga, Head of the Division for Regional Initiatives at the MRD, participated in the workshop.
