MRD holds a coordination meeting for the establishment and operationalization of the South-West Regional Development Centre

Today, on 08.07.2026, the Ministry of Regional Development (MRD) held a coordination meeting regarding the process of establishing and operationalizing the South-West Regional Development Centre.

The meeting was chaired by the Acting First Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Regional Development, Mr. Ali Dula, who is also leading the process of establishing the regional development centres. The purpose of the meeting was to coordinate inter-institutional activities for advancing the process of establishing and operationalizing the South-West Regional Development Centre.

The meeting was attended by the Director for Economic Development at the Municipality of Gjakova, Mr. Ferdinand Kolaj, the Director of the Agency for Regional Development – South, Mr. Qazim Piranja, the Director of the Agency for Regional Development – West, Mr. Sokol Luta, directors of municipal departments, as well as other institutional representatives.

During the meeting, the Acting Director of the DRPCD, Ms. Kreshnike Arifi, presented the process of establishing the Regional Development Centres, outlining the institutional framework, objectives, and their role in promoting balanced regional development. Meanwhile, Ms. Shyhrete Kastrati, Director of DPRA, presented the activities and necessary steps for the implementation of the Guide for the Identification of Strategic Investment Areas and the Feasibility Study for Regional Socio-Economic Development, with a focus on identifying development potentials and creating conditions for attracting investments.

Within the framework of the meeting, the next steps for the operationalization of the South-West Regional Development Centre were discussed, as well as its importance in coordinating development priorities, drafting regional operational plans, developing and implementing joint projects, and mobilizing funds and investments for the region.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the participants expressed their readiness to continue inter-institutional and inter-municipal cooperation in support of the establishment and operationalization of the South-West Regional Development Centre, assessing this initiative as an important step towards advancing balanced and sustainable regional development.
