Today, on June 30, 2026, the Ministry of Regional Development held a coordination meeting regarding the process of establishment and functionalization of the East Regional Development Center.
The meeting was chaired by the acting First Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Regional Development, Mr. Ali Dula, who at the same time leads the process of establishing the Centers for Regional Development. The purpose of the meeting was to coordinate inter-institutional activities for advancing the process of establishment and functionalization of the Eastern Regional Development Center.
The meeting was attended by the Mayor of the Municipality of Viti, Mr. Sokol Haliti, the Mayor of the Municipality of Kamenica, Mr. Kadri Rrahimaj, the Mayor of the Municipality of Partesh, Mr. Dragan Petković, the Deputy Mayor of the Municipality of Klokot, Mr. Refik Halili, the Deputy of the Acting Secretary of the Ministry of Regional Development, Mrs. Arta Ahmeti Xhylani, Director of RDA East, Mr. Agim Zeka, directors of municipal directorates, as well as other institutional representatives.
During the meeting, the Acting Director of the DPKDHR Mrs. Kreshnike Arifi, presented the process of establishment of the Centers for Regional Development, presenting the institutional framework, objectives and their role in promoting balanced regional development. Meanwhile, Mrs. Shyhrete Kastrati, Director of DPAR, presented the activities and steps necessary for the implementation of the Guide for the Identification of Areas for Strategic Investments and the Feasibility Study for Regional Socio-Economic Development, with a focus on identifying development potentials and creating conditions for attracting investments.
In the framework of the meeting, the next steps for the functionalization of the Eastern Regional Development Center were discussed, as well as its importance in coordinating development priorities, drafting regional operational plans, developing and implementing joint projects, as well as mobilizing funds and investments for the region.
At the end of the meeting, the participants expressed their readiness for the continuation of inter-institutional and inter-municipal cooperation in order to establish and functionalize the Center for Regional Development East, assessing this initiative as an important step towards advancing balanced and sustainable regional development
