Today, on 07.07.2026, the Ministry of Regional Development (MRD) held a coordination meeting regarding the process of establishing and functionalizing the South Regional Development Centre.
The meeting was chaired by the Acting First Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Regional Development, Mr. Ali Dula, who also leads the process of establishing regional development centres. The purpose of the meeting was to coordinate inter-institutional activities to advance the process of establishing and functionalizing the South Regional Development Centre.
The meeting was attended by the Mayor of Suhareka, Mr. Bali Muharremaj, the Deputy Mayor of Prizren, Mr. Kujtim Gashi, the Deputy Mayor of Dragash, Mr. Qamil Kolloni, Deputy Mayor of the Municipality of Mamusha, Mr. Ramadan Zogaj, Director of East RDA Mr. Nderim Bytyqi, Director of General Services at MRD Ms. Arta Ahmeti Xhylani, directors of municipal directorates, as well as other institutional representatives.
During the meeting, the acting Director of the DRDPC, Ms. Kreshnike Arifi, presented the process of establishing the Regional Development Centres, including the institutional framework, objectives and their role in promoting balanced regional development. Meanwhile, Ms. Shyhrete Kastrati, Director of the DPAR, presented the activities and steps necessary for the implementation of the Guidelines for the Identification of Strategic Investment Areas and the Feasibility Study for Regional Socio-Economic Development, with a focus on identifying development potentials and creating conditions for attracting investments.
During the meeting, further steps for the functionalization of the South Regional Development Centre were discussed, as well as its significance in coordinating development priorities, drafting regional operational plans, developing and implementing joint projects, and mobilizing funds and investments for the region.
At the end of the meeting, the participants expressed their willingness to continue inter-institutional and inter-municipal cooperation in order to establish and operationalize the South Regional Development Centre, considering this initiative as an important step towards advancing balanced and sustainable regional development.
