The MDR holds a coordination meeting for the establishment and operationalisation of the Regional Development Center-West

Today, on 25 June 2026, the Ministry of Regional Development (MDR) held a coordination meeting regarding the process of establishing and operationalising the Regional Development Centre-West.

The meeting was chaired by the Acting First Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Regional Development, Mr. Ali Dula, who also leads the process of establishing regional development centres. The purpose of the meeting was to coordinate inter-institutional activities aimed at advancing the process of establishing and operationalizing the Regional Development Centre-West.

The meeting was attended by the Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Local Government Administration, Mr. Arton Konushevci; the Mayor of Peja, Mr. Gazmend Muhaxheri; the Mayor of Klina, Mr. Zenun Elezaj; the Director of RDA – West, Mr. Sokol Luta; directors of municipal directorates; and other institutional representatives.

During the meeting, the Acting Director of DPCRD, Ms. Kreshnike Arifi, introduced the process of establishing Regional Development Centres by presenting the institutional framework, objectives, and their role in promoting balanced regional development. Meanwhile, Ms. Shyhrete Kastrati, Director of DPRA, presented the activities and steps necessary for the implementation of the Guideline for the Identification of Strategic Investment Areas and the Feasibility Study for Regional Socio-Economic Development, with the focus on the identification of development potentials and the creation of conditions for attracting investments.

During the meeting, further steps for the operationalisation of the Regional Development Centre-West were discussed, as well as its importance in coordinating development priorities, drafting regional operational plans, developing and implementing joint projects, and mobilising funds and investments for the region.

At the end of the meeting, the participants expressed their willingness to continue inter-institutional and inter-municipal cooperation in order to establish and operationalise the Regional Development Centre-West by assessing this initiative as an important step towards advancing balanced and sustainable regional development.
