Deputy Secretary General of the MRD, Mr. Besim Kamberaj, accompanied by the Director of the Department for Regional Socio-Economic Planning and Analysis, met the IOM Chief of Mission in Kosovo, Ms. Anna Rostocka, accompanied by Mr. Faton Kelmendi. Mr. Kamberaj informed Ms. Anna Rostocka of the MRD’s mandate, activities and programs planned for implementation in 2021. In addition, Mr. Kameraj emphasized the approval by the Government of the Regional Development Strategy 2020-2030 and its Action Plan, emphasizing that there are many issues and ideas for cooperation with the IOM Office in Kosovo.
On the other hand, the IOM representatives, after presenting the activities and results achieved with various partners in Kosovo, expressed the will and desire to establish a genuine cooperation with the MRD in the field of balanced regional socio-economic development. The following potential areas of cooperation were mentioned: supporting youth with various programs to build their capacity and help them integrate into the labor market; designing programs for the return of young people to Kosovo after completing their education abroad; preparing programs with focus on the economic advancement of the poor in less developed areas, etc.
After discussing potential topics and ideas for cooperation, the parties agreed to hold another meeting soon and to design a formal letter of cooperation for the future.
