The support of youth in schools, the reintegration of repatriates and cooperation with the diaspora as the main goals of this Memorandum of Cooperation are not misuses but opportunities to support the citizens of the Republic of Kosovo.
Clarification for public opinion, the Ministry of Regional Development has a Memorandum of Cooperation with the Swiss Caritas International Organization registered in Kosovo, the Swiss Caritas is a member of the International Caritas network. It consists of 165 organizations worldwide, in addition, European Caritas organizations have joined in Brussels to form Caritas Europe.
As a result of the Memorandum of Cooperation between the MRD and the Swiss Caritas, two projects MARDI and YENI are derived where the Swiss Caritas covers the largest amount of funding in the amount of 1.560.000.00 euros which comes from Switzerland, and the Ministry of Regional Development co-finances these two projects in the amount of 347.000.00 euros per year for the years 2022-2024.
MRD has followed all legal procedures to co-finance these projects and has consulted in advance with all relevant actors to obtain the necessary consents.
Swiss Caritas has been implementing projects in Kosovo for more than 20 years. In the strategic period 2021–2025, Caritas Switzerland plans to implement projects based on the needs of the country and its population, as well as on the long experience of Caritas Switzerland in Kosovo. The focus of its work is on income generation topics (especially food security/agriculture, education and vocational training, migration, reintegration of repatriated people, and migration for employment reasons).
