Today, August 24, 2022, work continues with the second group of municipalities, the second day of the Information Session and Workshop on the Call for Project Ideas for Capital Investments organized by the Ministry of Regional Development (MZRD) in partnership with UN-Habitat Kosovo.

The workshop was opened by Mr.Besim Kamberaj - Deputy General Secretary of the Ministry of Regional Development who greeted the attendees at the workshop and emphasized that this workshop will be a good opportunity to jointly discuss the possibilities for a sustainable regional socio-economic development and explore the understanding of the key elements of regional development and its effective implementation in practice, then Mr.Kamberaj passed the floor to Mr.Agon Dobruna – Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Regional Development.

The Deputy Minister, Mr.Dobruna, thanked all participants and cited that it is a good opportunity to jointly discuss the possibilities for a sustainable socio-economic regional development and explore the understanding of the key elements of regional development and its effective implementation in practice. Knowing the substance of regional development will create a stable foundation for public officials (local and central level) to better adapt policies, make adequate interventions and develop place-based capital investment projects that will promote a balanced socio-economic development of regions in Kosovo.

The second session of the workshop started with the Objectives of the Regional Development Strategy and the objectives of the call for project-ideas, the work continued with the presentations by Mr.Arbnor Sadiku-Head of the Division for European Integration and Mrs.Vjendita Avdiu Musliu - Head of the Division for Balanced Regional Development and Mrs. Jeta Nushi - Head of the Division for Development and Project Management who presented the objectives of the Strategy for Regional Development, Analysis of Capital Investments from the central level to the local level and the purpose and the objectives of the call for capital investment project ideas.

The third session of the workshop continued the works on the topic of application of the integrated approach in the identification and development of project proposals, the connection of the potentials, needs and priorities of the municipalities with the vision of the developing regions, as well as their translation into project-ideas presentation made by Ms.Besnike Kocani, Advisor for UN-Habitat spatial/urban planning.

The fourth session of the workshop continues the work on the topic of criteria, application process and selection procedures, presentation by Mr.Ylber Çitaku - Acting Director for Regional Development.

The fifth session continued with the Identification and development of projects for capital investments (simulation), announcement with the process and work steps presented by Mrs.Besnike Kocani, and then the last session of the workshop continued the work with the creation of five working groups, which presented joint inter-municipal projects realized during the workshop.

In the end, Mr.Besim Kamberaj - Secretary of the MRD, thanked the representatives of the Municipal Directorates and all those present for the contribution made during these two days in the Information Session and the pre-preparatory Workshop on the Call for Project-Ideas for Capital Investments and concluded the works drawing conclusions, recommendations and steps to be taken in the future.
