Today, 29 September 2023, the Minister of Regional Development participated in the inauguration of the environmental projects of the eco clubs of the upper secondary schools "Dr. Asllan Elezi" and "Marin Barleti", Gjilan.
Minister Damka, among other things, congratulated the schools for this environmental project - "Installation of solar panels" installed in chool facilities with a capacity of 8kw. He said that, through this environmental project, the schools have managed to influence the reduction of carbon footprints through the production of renewable/solar energy within the schools, as well as increase the awareness of students about reducing carbon footprints and pollution in their city.
The Ministry of Regional Development, being dedicated to improving the lives of Kosovo's citizens, has included 17 municipalities, 60 schools and 60 Eco-clubs in the YENI project.
MRD and Swiss Caritas, with the YENI Project, have jointly supported 4 secondary schools in the Municipality of Gjilan, which will benefit from sustainable environmental projects in their schools. Through successful environmental projects, young people in the Municipality of Gjilan and everywhere in Kosovo will be inspired to take more positive actions for the environment and climate change in the future.
Finally, Minister Damka emphasized how important the environmental voice of youth is and the change they bring to be more environmentally friendly in dealing with climate change in Kosovo, for which he thanked the students and teachers engaged in this project.
The hosts, Mrs. Albana Demiri, - Director of Education in the <unicipality of Gjilan, representatives from Swiss Caritas and CEDE, and directors of the beneficiary schools, thanked Minister Damka for the work and dedication he has shown throughout the process.
In this ceremony, the Minister was accompanied by Mr. Ylber Çitaku, Acting Director of the DRD and other representatives of the Ministry.
