On 21 November 2023, the Ministry of Regional Development (MRD) in partnership with UN-Habitat in Kosovo organized the workshop " Presentation and validation of the draft analysis of capital investments made according to the five development regions of Kosovo for the year 2022".
The workshop started with introductory words from the Minister of the Ministry of Regional Development, Mr. Fikrim Damka, who thanked the attendees and stated that this workshop is a good opportunity to jointly discuss the possibilities for a sustainable regional socio-economic development and emphasized that MRD is dedicated to addressing challenges and identifying development opportunities in all the regions of the country.
In this workshop, the Swedish Ambassador to Kosovo, Mr. Jonas Westerlund, greeted the participants and emphasized the importance of regional socio-economic development as well as the possibility of cooperation with Swedish institutions that cover this field, including Sweden's development programs in Kosovo.
Mr. Besim Kamberaj, Deputy General Secretary of the MRD, emphasized the role and importance of presenting and validating the findings of the draft analysis of capital investments which is drawn up every year by the Ministry of Regional Development. He also emphasized and presented the role that the MRD has in the impact of reducing regional disparities in Kosovo through the implementation of its programs.
The workshop continued with two presentations by Mr. Dyfed Aubrey, Inter-regional Advisor UN-Habitat Kosovo and Mrs. Charlotte Lorents Hjorth, Coordinator EIT KIC partnerships / CEO Future By Lund University of Lund Sweden.
Overview of the Draft Analysis of Capital Investments according to development regions for the year 2022" was made by Mrs. Shyhrete Kastrati - Director of the Department for Planning and Regional Socio-Economic Analysis "The presentation of the findings of the draft analysis on the distribution of capital investments: regions, funds and sectors from the local and central level", was carried out by Mrs. Blinda Bytyçi, Consultant for Socio-Economic Development at MRD.
This workshop continued the work with the analysis of the thematic findings from the draft analysis through working group sessions as well as the completion of conclusions and recommendations by Mrs. Besnike Kocani, Advisor for spatial/urban planning at UN-Habitat Kosova. The workshop was concluded with the general conclusions drawn by Mr. Besim Kamberaj, Acting Secretary General of the MRD, and the recommendations with the steps to be followed in the future towards the implementation of the objectives by the MRD.
