On 29 November 2023, the Minister of Regional Development visited the Municipality of Mitrovica, where he was received by the Mayor, Mr. Bedri Hamza, and his associates.

At this working meeting, Mayor Hamza thanked the Minister for the visit, then they discussed the challenges and opportunities of inter-institutional cooperation for the implementation of joint projects and investments, the difficulties that the Municipality of Mitrovica is facing.

The Minister of MRD, Mr. Damka, briefed Mr. Hamza on the achievements so far and the goals of the Ministry he leads, in particular for the Regional Development Program (RDP), where he specifically showed his willingness to support municipalities with project proposals, projects that coincide with the goals and criteria of the call for capital investments 2024 and that have a direct impact on regional socio-economic development.

After the meeting, they visited the "Omni Sport" Multifunctional Center to see the damage caused by the recent floods in the city of Mitrovica.

Next, they visited the Free Economic Zone, assessing its potential to attract investments and create jobs, and then continuing to the village of Zaselle in the city of Mitrovica, where the "Panoramic Balkan” project funded by the Ministry of Regional Development is being built.

Minister Damka was accompanied by Mr. Besim Kaberaj, Secretary General of the MRD, Mr. Eroll Zekerija, Advisor to the Minister and Ylber Çitaku,  Director of the DRD.
