Today, on December 5, 2024, the Ministry of Regional Development hosted a conference titled “Presentation and Promotion of Analytical Documents for Balanced Socio-Economic Regional Development”.
The conference was opened by Mr. Besim Kamberaj, the Secretary General of the Ministry, who welcomed the attendees with an opening speech, emphasizing the importance of the conference. He then passed the floor to Mr. Fikrim Damka, the Minister of Regional Development.
Minister Damka first greeted the attendees and emphasized the Ministry of Regional Development’s commitment to enhancing collaboration between central and local institutions, the private sector, and international partners. This commitment is best exemplified in the analytical documents that we are honored to present and promote today.
Ms. Shyhrete Kastrati, the Director of the Regional Performance and Analysis Department, provided an overview of analytical documents focusing on balanced regional socio-economic development. These documents serve as the foundation for policy development, strategic planning, and programs aimed at regional development, fostering inter-regional cooperation, and addressing challenges to reduce regional inequalities.
The conference proceeded according to the agenda, with Ms. Qefsere Bajram, Head of the Regional Analysis Division, presenting the "Capital Investment Analysis for 2023”. This analysis helps identify financing gaps and improve transparency for the fair allocation of resources. Ms. Blinda Bytyqi, the Balanced Regional Development Officer, then presented the "Regional Socio-Economic Development Analysis", which addresses measures to support the private sector and reduce regional inequalities. This analysis also promoted economic, cultural and natural resources as key pillars to encourage investments and integrated regional development.
For the first time, the Ministry of Regional Development has prepared analytical documents reflecting the seven development regions in accordance with the Law on Balanced Regional Development. This new approach provides a more suitable way to address the unique challenges and potentials of each region. Additionally, all capital investments and support for the private sector in 2023 have been analyzed and reflected in the seven regions, covering all sectors for the first time. The Ministry of Regional Development is committed to improving collaboration between central and local institutions, the private sector, and international partners to ensure sustainable and inclusive development for all citizens of Kosovo.
